Hi,
does anybody already have a positive/negative response concerning the test results if we made it to the next round?
Just got my test results on Thursday but they said the final answer will come seperately!
Didn't know that the deadline was the 4th finally...
Fingers crossed for our answers!

I also got an analysis of my test but the result was strange as it said that I was often smthg close to 0 (3-4 of100) even though I have never answered below 15...

I have received the feedback from the online test as well and think that the results match my profile (besides 2 categories).
To Lounge Gast 07.03.2011: The test compares your answers with the answers of the other people that took the test. When you have a 4 out of 100, that means that 96% of the people who took the test have a higher score in this category (they voted higher than 15).

This is the answer I got concerning the problem about the results:
Thank you for your participation to the PROGRESS online assessment. Your e-mail was forwarded to us by the online test provider. To ensure a fair selection process, participants can only perform the test once and we will consider the results recorded then. Of course, we made sure that the online assessment was properly working.
Given the high number of applications, we regret that we are unable to provide any further details on individual test results other than the report provided by the test provider.
We will inform you shortly about the next steps of the recruitment process.

last year I successfully passed the online test and the telephone interview. I got an email with congratulatios about passing the pre-selection and got a postion offering which I accepted. After that my application was passed to the line manager and after 4 more weeks I got a rejection. I just want to say you, dont lean on this selection process, I hink, you really need a big luck to get a postion at the end. Passing the pre-selection does not mean that you will be invitd to the AC. Hello Everyone,
I applied for EADS PROGRESS in 2008. I reached the final stage (assessment centre) but did not get selected. I have applied again this year (last attempt) and I have completed my online test(received results, awaiting EADS response). I assume my experience could be of some help to the anxious lot I see in this blog. I was not happy with my online test results because it did not make sense. To my understanding, the test provides the results in percentiles. This means the results of everyone taking the test must be available to calculate the percentile. In 2008, the online test results were made available after the telephone interview which could very well mean that the percentile scores were correct. This year, I received my result the next day so it could not be percentile based on the entire group who took test. My scores in reasoning etc were high but my behaviorial skills results were mixed and not what I expected or not what my behaviour is usually. In my experience the online test results do not always get very high weightage. For instance, my friend with a percentile of 5 got the job. CV of candidates who the HR organization thinks to be suitable is sent to the managers. The managers would then shortlist the people who would be invited to the assessment/selection centre. However, this year (from the online results email) I find that the people selected for the telephone interview are the ones shortlisted by managers.
Regarding response time, in my experience it is largely dependent on who in HR is working for PROGRESS. Some HR personnel are very quick to respond to your queries (sometimes within half a day). progress@eads.net always takes atleast 3-4 working days to reply, I have experienced not getting a response too. The selection centre interviews for support functions are usually in April and the interview for engineering roles take place from May onwards.
In 2008, the selection centre interview had two stages. First day it was group activities. Second day was the personal interview with the manager who is interested in your profile. The group activity comprises of reading through a business case (30 mins or so) highlighting some challenges etc. Then you are sent to a hall as a group and asked to discuss among yourselves to clearly outline the challenges. During this period, several managers would be observing you including the one who is interested in you. Based on a talk I had with a HR person, I understand that the objective for them is to determine your capability to work in a group and not if you can come up with solutions for the business case. After this large group event is over, you are sent to another room with probably another 1 or 2 candidates who are also shortlisted for the same job as you are. Here you have another set of questions relating to the business case and you are to discuss on creating a solution. At this time, only the manager who is inerested in you and the other shortlisted candidates is present. I am not sure what he is looking out for. But my guess is your reasoning ability etc. After this, you would again be sent to the big group event and you will be asked to discuss your solutions and present them. All the managers interested in the candidates of the big group will be present. In short, the best way to succeed in this level is to be active in the group.
The second day is the personal interview and your fit to the position on a technical and personal level is. I believe this is where I lost out because I did not speak French and my manager did not understand/speak English very well.
Unfortunately, luck plays a larger role in your selection (A fact that a EADS HR person admitted). I wish you all good luck.

Well I was successfull last year in the applicaition process (now Progress Trainee) and I just can confirm nearly everything that has been said in the post before.
Just what you here everytime simply is through: important is being a good teamplayer, not playing a role but being who you really are and most important LUCK :) I was invited in two consecutive years for the AC and both times just because another participant couldn't or make it or took back his application...
All the best and perhaps see some of you in some point in the future (I also read this forum before my application)...

I also got a negative answer. It was a quite generic email with a "do not reply to this email" statement at the end. It would useful to understand if it was because of the online test results of because they didn't match the CV with any available profile. Does anyone has a clue?

I took the test this morning and it is made of logic questions (for example: finding a missing symbol in a sequence) and behavioral questions (do you like teamwork?). I do not think you can really prepare for such questions. As they say : "just be relaxed" !

I got an online assessment that should be finished before 29 feb, according to my search I had read a blog saying there are numerical, verbal, logical reasoning test each section have different scoring marks in percentage. I think online assessment consists of SHL test. If any body had faced the exam before, their advice will be very much appreciated, I means a lot to we guys who are going to take test in future.

just took the test.. its pretty much standard. if you have taken online assessment tests before, then you know the drill.
the only difference to the previous online tests i've taken is that you will have to read and interpret statistics and graphs.
other than that you will find the usual 'complete the sequence', a math test where the numbers are substituted for geometrical shapes and the obligatory 'character test' that seems to be never-ending. all of the tests are timed but the character test.
each section of the test starts with an example you do to familiarize yourself with the structure. the language of the test (at least for me) was set to english.
overall the test is very much doable. basically you cant prepare much, unless you do want to do practice tests that are structures similar to the one you will encounter for eads.
in the invitation to the online test it said that results will be made available after the online assessment test period is over. since most of us have gotten the deadline of feb 29th, i would think we will get the results after that.
reading and thinking about what you've read helps to answer these kind of questions. all information necessary was provided in the email. ;-)
with regards to travel expenses: i would assume they will not reimburse you for any travel expenses. however, if you must know or if your participation in any assessment center depends on the reimbursement of your travel costs, it might be wise to ask them once you've reached this stage (e.g. have received an invitation to an assessment center). until then i wouldn't bother thinking about it, if i were you.
good luck to everyone who still has/ wants to take the test. there's no need to get nervous or freak out. as some have already mentioned, the most important thing you have to do is to stay RELAXED.

I can confirm they do reimburse your travel expenses. Two years ago I attended their AC in Munich. You get paid travel expenses from wherever you are based to Munich and back, plus the hotel stay for as many days as you stay in the AC (based on the offers you receive, two years ago some people had to spend a whole week there).

I just made the test today and I would say the questions with analyzing by graphs were kind of tricky. Therefore; I recommend to read it well the questions who has not done the tests yet. The rest of the test is common online assessment test and enjoyable to solve.
Related to the feedback, I guess eveybody will receive after 29th of February.

Just did an online assessment. First of all, thank you very much for tips! The best one and the right one is definitely BE RELAXED! Don't worry, it was no verbal reasoning, only logical (2 tests), numerical (or better to say to analyse the graph) and behaviour tests. Let's wait for results =)

Hey y'all,
I've too just completed the test.
I splits into two parts, with an analytical first part and a personality check in the second. Whilst the second part are just questions about yourself, it is indeed relaxing to complete the answers one by one.
The first part is timed per question and the questions are quite tricky, so I do recommend you to practice some of it in advance. First question is inductive thinking...it's the stuff with pictures where you have to fill in the blank. Second assignment is analyzing graphs. Half of the graphs are from economics, the other is rather from marketing. Nothing big, but have your calculator somewhere close as you may do some easy algebra. Third task was in fact quite challenging. It was about mathematical equations "coded" as geometric signs. Basically you can prepare for all of this and there is plenty of free info on the internet you can find, but in the end, I guess it either that you can do these type of assignments or not.

Got the results for the online assessment today. As a first time test taker of this kind I did bad in diagrammatic and deductive reasoning. Don't know whether I will be invited for the telephone interview or not. Keeping my fingers crossed. Even if I get selected there are two more rounds to go.

hello guys and gals!
I took the test yesterday, and today I've received the feedback. I have read all the comments on this page, which were a bit helpful. Like some of the other guys from previous years, I was quite amazed at the ways in which they interpreted the test results, and was quite surprised that some of their findings were quite spot on, while others not so much (for example I've got quite a small percentile for the "innovation" part, which is quite strange, and I don't know from where they got that impression).
Overall it was quite a learning experience, and based on their feedback I'm not particularly thrilled that I'm gonna be successful, but who knows. Hope you guys had a better outcome that me, and good luck to you all.

I also got the results today. I got high percentiles in almost everything, except in the first category, problem solving capability, in which I got only 65%. This point worries me a bit, and also the fact that I got 85% in "propensity for conflict". I admit I am stubborn, but hey, I don't fight all the time hehehehe.
Now my fingers are crossed and i am waiting to see what they say about the phone interview.

Hello everyone,
Just keep in mind that the results are relative and not absolute. E.g. a low score in innovation doesn't mean that you are not "innovative", it means that most of the people who took the test are supposedly more "innovative" than you are.

I think only the first 3 results can be considered as "good or bad", the rest are personality related and a low or high score is not necesarily good of bad. In the first three, I got 81,67, and 60, I wonder if its enough to get to the interview.....

Thank you for everyone, who posted their experiences and suggestion about the exam. It was really helpful to know what we were about to face in the assessment prior to the exam. I enjoyed the tenure of the exam and got 91,97 and 95 in first three modules. I will definitely post my future experiences to assist other applicants on this blog.

The analysis and the insight they provided was really interesting. I guess having high/low/average percentiles on some behavioral traits truly depends on the position one's applying for ; some profiles might not be relevant with some functions...
I am really curious to see to what extent they are also judging "honesty" because in such settings one's might give biased answers which would not necessarily always reflect is own behavior when facing a situation at work.
Does someone know if the phone interview concerns all the participants to the online assessment or only the ones who are selected to go further in the Progress selection process?

I also received the results and when I was reading the details I impressed. Becasuse it some how really represents the personality. In my opinion, we can not say if it is good or bad. It depends on the position that you are going to work. But i guess; problem solving, reasoning, diagram analysis and leadership parts are important in terms of showing the analytical skills.
Can you give some information about the telephone interview, please? How is the style? Just about the CV background and personality questions? If somebody who already did previous years could tell us some feedback, I appreciate.

Hey there,
I m unhappy with my results, mainly bcs I failed horribly in the diagram analysis (39). I have a pure engineering background, meaning no economics, marketing, finance. Thus, it was really hard to summarize the given information quickly. I didnt even get to the last three tasks (out of ten). My scores in the first three bits are 80, 39, 70.
Also, similar to three posts above, my propensity for conflict is on 90%! I totally disagree. I know what I want but I am very much able to compromise and definitely never fight out of spite (which was said so in the detailed analysis).
Anyway, just wanted to get that out of my system. Maybe anyone feels similarly misjudged?

I did bad in many sections. But I came to know that the selection process for the telephone interview may not be completely based on your online assessment score. It depends on your CV, positions available, company policy and so on. Moreover the results are not a complete indicator of who we are, some candidate would have prepared very well where as the others took the test just impromptu. It was the case for me. I have been out of university for quite a long time, apparently it was very difficult for me to get into the assessment mode.
For all who have done badly I would say lets not lose our hope and for all who have done better congrats. I would appreciate if somebody would lets us know if they receive an email for telephone interview by posting here. I am mostly thinking they woudl start sending the email by next week.

I think we don't have the right to feel misjudged, because it was a self assessment. The results are based on our own self image. yes, I find it weird that my answers led to that high value of propensity for conflict when I do not see myself like that, but I am not the psychologist here :-P.

my report kind of offers a few contradictions in the evaluations.
according to it, im neither a team person nor do i like to work alone. which is really strange. i do remember the questions in the test concerning team work and i answered them always with a pretty high percentage.
also, it seems im prone to be highly innovative and have a high customer focus. of course, i haven't counted them, but i can't remember that many questions on innovation or customer focus. i think i remember two or three per area.
so, i don't take this test too serious. to me it's a pretty generic test that is difficult in it's structure. it is just very hard to put an exact percentage for an answer on traits that you don't think about doing anymore as they have become embedded into your life.
i do understand why they give it, but then again, i do believe they are not specific for the position you have applied. it's a general assumption of the traits a person, who took the test, could offer. and just because one can't read graphs or did horribly on the math test, doesn't necessarily mean one is inappropriate for the applied job. so maybe they do actually select the areas of the test according to the job profile and match them with their expectations.
i guess we will have to wait for their answers, as speculating about their evaluation of the test is senseless and a waste of time. i don't think they will contact everybody. we had to take this test so they could narrow down the amount of applications. i have no idea when they will get in contact with those who will proceed, but id say usually this process can take up to two weeks. if you have are within the scale of acceptable percentages, they will contact you.
as a last input id like to tell you to stop worrying. you have no clue as to how they evaluate the test. maybe the program you have applied for doesn't require any diagram reading or they are looking for someone with a high conflict potential. (if you read the definition of it, it tells you that you are either prone to address problems or tend not to. so a high 'conflict potential' doesn't necessarily mean that you are out looking for arguments or trouble. it just means that you are willing to solve it quickly through talking about the problems occurring).

First: thanks to everyone who's sharing in here!
I applied for Systems Engineering and I received today my confirmation that I passed the online assessment. It explains the next steps of the process: phone interview (March) and 1.5days selection event (May and late June). For both steps, they assure they will confirm the dates "well in advance", and in the case of the phone interview we can even find another date if the proposed one doesn't suit us.
It would be great if someone experienced could give us some info regarding the phone interview.

i'm not quite sure, so i could be wrong. but maybe they are sending those invitations out in batches with regards to the programs people have applied for.
maybe the engineers receive their invitations first followed by people doing supply chain, hrm, marketing, etc.
but this is really just an idea. could be that people who have passed the ac already all have received the invitations. and all of the others (me included) will receive a thank you for your participation email later this week or next week...
as nothing is for sure, let's keep our hopes up...

Hi all,
congratulation for everybody who has already been up to this stage. In my opinion, and even if they use millions of "best" candidates to do their percentile as they said, this is somehow unfair. Well personally, I don't think they should deny or "bust" people just because of this test. As you can guess already, there is plenty of reason someone can succeed or not on this test. How about not feeling well, having a hard time to stay concentrated or maybe your friend or I don't know someone's taken the test for you... or you may have done that before for other companies (using the same HR-like test) and you are well prepared to nail the test.
I hope that they don't use only the test result to make their selection. But who knows, as we are loads of guys (and girls) applying, maybe it's just a tool who computes all the results and send the "good" ones to the HR (easier than spending 1min.x500000+ reading each single CV, it's not stupid at the end...) Well, if it's really the case, I'm feeling like I'm just a slave in this huge company... and look around you, all the successful guys haven't especially go through those "big" doors!
Anyway, I wanted to share my opinion on these OA tests. For me, the real challenge is not "school-based" test, but "real life-based" test^^

I applied to the sys eng division. As an engineering graduate who has scored 800 on the, I think that this test was not well set-up to really evaluate people.. for one thing the instructions for the symbolic digit-math problems weren't totally clear and left room for interpretation.
Good luck, I've heard it is partly just luck which will get you through the interview process. In the meantime I am starting my own company!

I understand the disappointment of some, I got a rejection mail today. I have to recognize that at least EADS has taken the time to say Yes or No, other companies wont even give you a miligram of feedback. With a "No" , at least you can know its time to follow a "backup" career plan, which all think we all have and leave Eads behind.

The mail is obviously automatic, and there is nothing in it which can help us guessing how they choose the best candidates.

i received a rejection today as well. honestly tho, im not surprised i have. as mentioned earlier, my report was totally contradictory.
i, for one, wont apply to the program again. i dont fear competition nor the OA, but i dont see the value to these tests other than for EADS to be able to narrow down the choice. i do understand that they receive a huge amount of applications. but these standardized tests are nothing but standardized. and thats just not the way i work hehehe.
i agree with others who said this test wasnt clear at times. however, that was not so much a problem. there is always room for interpretation. to me it was more problematic that they wanted me to enter percentages to values and characteristics to determine 'my fit'. i dont think this kind of test is applicable at all. obviously, one could think in one preferable direction and answer the questions accordingly although its not true (e.g. teamwork vs. individual work).
my results in the first three categories were: 49, 14, 89
overall, my lowest result was in team orientation with 11.
my highest was in customer service mentality with 92.
i dont think i did particularly bad in the test. but obviously there were others who read the diagrams better and have a higher team & leadership aspiration ;-).
again. congrats to those who passed the OA.
hope youll make it through and get the traineeship!

I, too, received the rejection email today. My test scores were:
-Problem solving capacity: 80
-Diagram analysis: 65
-Reasoning: 35
-Leadership motivation: 77
-Active pursuit of innovation: 90
-Outgoing nature: 94

I think that the online test instructions for part #3 (reasoning) were not very concise and gave way to interpretation too. I totally messed it up in that part.....
I applied for Costumer Services and Support Engineering.
I had also a strong application, but guess that in order to pass to the interview phase they only take into account the OA results (apparently the first three ones). A strong application only gets you in the first phase (OA). At least, thats what I think.

Got an email with an invite for a phone interview on the 29th of march... there's a link, which i'm supposed to access on the day of the interview... do you guys have any idea of what this will be? is anyone doing the phone interview before the 29th?
I'm a little clueless about the process... :/ as far as i understood, if i pass the next phase (phone interview) then i'll be invited for a 1.5 days whatever selection. what is that? another round of 275029375 tests?? the whole process seems to take quite a long time!! when they'll finally talk about the job positions??

Hello everyone!
I have applied for the ICT Programme. I have my phone interview at the end of march. I've got a 39, 80 and 98 in the three first parts of the online assessment. I dont remember the rest of the results (psychotechnical assessment).
Does anybody know about this phone interview? what kind of questions do they ask? do they talk to you in several languages or only english?

I have a phone interview next week, but I just accepted a 1 year Masters program the other day. Since my Masters program is in Innovation Management, it should fit the bill quite well.
I am still very interested in becoming a progress member, but I will not be able to do so this September.

Are you allowed to defer your application by a year?
I have an interview scheduled for next week, but need to decide within the next week whether or not I accept a prestigious offer for a Master in Management of Innovation. Since I have a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, I assume this would be a good combination. As this program goes Sep'12 - Aug'13, I would want to start PROGRESS in September 2013. Am I able to (if I pass the interview) delay the selection day by a year? What would you suggest I say during the interview?

I don´t think that they´ll let you postpone it for a whole year. I would go for the Master without any doubts. I studied too Mechanical Engineering and then I completed a two year Master on Business Engineering and it gives you a much wider scope of an engineering company.

35K?/Y in Toulouse is not so much regarding the average graduate entry program in the sector. However, you can expect this amount to grow at a stable, confortable rate!
As per those who say you can't live in Toulouse with 35K?, this is bullsh**, I don't know where these guy come from, but you can live pretty well...

Hi,
I had my phone interview today. So it lasts approximately 40 minutes and it's divided in three parts. First I was asked why I applied to this program and what I was looking for. Then they asked me questions about EADS and their future strategy. The second part depends on the online test, for me it was questions about passed management experiences and teams playing experiences. The last part is linked to the internet link: there is three managmenet situation and you have to tell what you would do.

had my interview today..it was 1.5 hours. why so long? because i obviously sucked...questions were mostly about confirmation of psychological portrait you have drawn during answering online test. neither difficult nor something you must prepare for. plus - the interviewer was very nice and kind.
my preference was Quality engineer.

@people who are upset about the online tests.
Though the personality related fields (ie. not the first 3 fields) may have some impact on your selection, I highly doubt that this is significant. I think it is likely that the first 3 areas receive the majority of the scrutiny and that there is probably an automatic cut-off point (ie. average less than 50 or 60 or 70) where you'll get rejected automatically - this despite a perfectly matching personality. The idea here is that regardless of how much you personally fit the firm there is a certain expectation of analytic capacity needed for the job.
That said, I completely sympathize with those who felt they under performed or simply do not respond well to such tests. I have crashed and burned a few times in past recruitment processes on a given day only to do great a another day. Its unfortunate that the scale of such recruiting initiatives necessitates the use of such methods!

Hi,
just got the phone interview for the strategy stream. 2 sections. A first involving questions around motivation to join EADS, competency and miscellaneous about the company. Followed 3 short case studies where you must explain how you would react to specific situations as a manager/project leader. Would recommend to work on the first part with usual tools as the second is only an application.
Also, questions you are asked should, to some extend, will be linked to how you answered competency questions during the online assessment. Probably to make a more precise profile. But don't fear on that as apart from 1st 3 results (analysis), others can be pretty extreme and could still pass (see below).
I was told answer will come around beginning/mid April as interviews go on until end of month.

Hi! I had the phone interview today. As previously mentioned by others, it comprises three parts. First they asked about motivation to join EADS. Second part, the ask about EADS and future strategies you think the company should pursuit. I strongly recommend to read about the company, and this link might be useful: http://www.eads.com/eads/int/en/our-c... I think those were the two more difficult questions. The rest of the second part was about specific situations that I have experienced before and how I reacted to them. Third part was the online management assessment. They will present you three management scenarios (three short paragraphs) and you'll have to answer what would you do if you were in a team leader role.

open answer, but they are really really simple and they give you more than enough time to prepare. Basically you have some lady reading you the questions and typing in the answers you say. A lot of Q's where you have to give examples from you past. They actually hardly even asked me why I want to do progress, only 1 Q about why I would like to work at EADS. The interview took an hour and the lady was very nice, no stress test or anything.

how long did it take last year before you got a response from the managers?

The process last year was slightly different but, i was not called by a manager at all and had to wait til june to get a final answer saying I was eventually not selected! Last year I was worried and stressed during the wait, now I know what to expect and hopefully the outcome will be better!

Has anyone tried last year to get other job propositions? I really don't like the ones they gave me and as I would not like to continue is they are final, better off to know if I can do anything now!

Made it to the next round. They matched me with two SE positions, now the managers have to look at the profiles and select who to invite for the assessment center.

Hey guys,
Still have not received any feedback after the phone interview (I had mine on the 22nd of March)! I was hoping to receive something this week. I have applied as an engineer in the design & development functional area. From the forum, I guess none of the engineers have received any feedback?
Judging by what has been said on the forum, looks like this is going to be a tedious process! I have sent out an email to EADS HR asking for more information. So, if I do hear anything back from them, I will let you guys know.

Hi guys!
I applied as an engineer in design, development and verification.
I just got the mail saying that I passed the phone interview and
they figured out three possible positions. They pass my personal
information to the managers who will decide if I can go to the
selection days.
The mails are personal so they don't send them all at the same
time, so you should all get an answer soon!

I unfortunately did not pass the phone interview for engineering design and development. =(
I will surely re-apply next year.
Just out of curiosity, what is everybody's age and education level?
I am 20 and am finishing up my Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, have no full time work experience but 7 months of internship experience in aerospace.
Would be interested in finding out how this compares to other candidates.

Hi guys!
I applied for the ICT track and still no answer... Does anybody knows if I will get an answer even if a I didn't pass the phone interview??
To answer one of the questions posted, I'm 24, electrical engineer with a master's degree in computer science. Just 1 year of experience in an IT field. Cheer up dude! you are VERY young! surely you'll find something according to your expectations... You're just starting your career =).

Still no answer for me either. Has everybody joined the group?
I am 27, electronics engineer with a masters in the same and about to finish a PhD in mechanical engineering. I do not have any actual industrial experience.
And 20 is a very young age! The world is just starting to open its doors for you! Keep on!

I'm 27 and I'm aeronautical engineer (5 years). I also have 2 years of project management experience and 1 more year of experience in R&D.
I applied for the Customer Service/Manufacturing scheme.
Yet I have no answer.... let's keep on waiting.
