i'm in the support stream. i received the email on april 25 (wednesday)
the stated timing is from 14.00 to 14.30 the next day...

I'm in the Engineering/Design track and was proposed two positions, both in Toulouse, but have not heard back about the AC.
I have two questions that the forum might be able to help me with.
1.) Do the proposed positions represent the first rotation in the program, or is it the intended final position?
2.) Will EADS reimburse us for the costs during, to, and from the AC, or do we have to privately finance the trip?

hello there,
i'm not an expert, but trying to answer your questions :-)
1) as far as I understand there are no rotation within Progress. you keep your position for two years - so during the whole Progress duration... you
2) they pay for the hotel and will arrange your transportation for you too

I am in the support stream and I was already told to go to Munich. I am also an Engineer. The email was personalised and in my case I was told to go for just one post, they chose for you. Well I am pretty nervous about it, I hope everything goes OK in Munich.

I totally agree with you, too. Sophie ignored my e-mails lots of times and other applicants felt like me, too. It does not take more than 1 minute to reply to those mails OR to update the applicant's status on the e-recruiting web. I will try to find an official way to make a strong complaint against her attitude to the HQ of EADS. I feel very much indignant about all those days she has made us to wait for without ANY NOTICE.

Congratulations! The initial position was for employee marketing with Astrium Satellites. The new position is for competence management with Eurocopter at Marignane. And yours?
Btw I contacted Sophie. She told me that I was rejected by the manager for the initial position but another manager chose me instead. :)

I'm assuming that all of the design engineers have been notified of an AC? I was notified in April that I passed the phone interview, but was never informed if I was matched with any job. I'm currently located in Japan and was thinking that I would get the AC in Singapore. I'm assuming that this has already passed? I've already given up hope, but thought maybe there was a shred of a chance.

In the end, how many design/manufacturing/system engineers have been invited to the AC? Reading through the comments here, it looks like 90% of the people invited come from the HR or Management track.
It would be nice to know if the deadline has been postponed after June, of if people have to give up right now...

I am bitterly disappointed in (1) the way the AC was conducted, and in (2) the fact that I was not offered the position.
(1) The fact that several (possibly all) PROGRESS streams were given the same 3 unimaginative and boring exercises does not make sense to me at this stage of the recruitment process. I applied for a very technical job, and I expected the AC to assess something other than my acting skills.
(2) Out of all the people competing for the position, my academic achievements were by far the most impressive. Furthermore, I was the only candidate to have significant and relevant work experience. (Yes, I did check the competition!)
However, it is merely the most friendly/outgoing of us who ended up receiving the offer.

Does anybody have any concrete figures for salary (especially in the engineering tracks)?
I only made it to the phone interview stage; however, the figure mentioned by the recruiter was up to 50'000 Euros depending on location, which doesn't seem like an awful lot for people with a Masters degree and a year of work experience.
Does anybody know more?

Apparently they don't really watch the grades. I know a guy who got to the final 360 this year (phone interview) with a high 60's average. I got just as far as him with mid 80s (both mechanical engineers).
Are you doing your bachelors or masters? And I assume you mean 45-50k salary after completing a masters?

Salary means nothing alone. You live way better in Toulouse with 35k? than with 50k? in London. But yes, it is true that the figure can go up to 50k for EADS HQ in Munich for a support stream for example. For an engineer in Toulouse you can expect 35k.
As for the grades, you don't need specific grades to participate to the scheme.

Hii Dude, I applied EADS (Cassidian) munich..first call hr told me about interview date and mailed me information.
I had done with my interview last monday (10 days ago), I mailed hr and asked her about decision and she told me, that is waiting for ans from recruiter and in the account my application shows in process .....how long they take to make decision and ya one more thing interviewer asked me salary and joining time also ..but still waiting for final ans as she told me i have to come down to munich ...

Hey everyone,
I hope you all had a great Christmas time.
I read all your comments and recommendations here - I find it very helpful as I am planning to take a part in this process. Does anyone attempt to submit their applications for the January deadline as well?
To all experienced, would you have any advice/tips for totally new people willing to try becoming a PROGRESS candidate? I am interested in Communication or Marketing stream. I would appreciate any help and listen to your experience - my contact e-mail: pokorska86@gmail.com.

After what I've heard, it is kind of an aptitude test, were they will ask you questions regardign different situations and you will have several options in between you should choose one. This way they can get an idea of your psycological profile

During the application-progress, there are 2 options to commit a cover/motivation letter - once as a short text, an online formular and secondly as an attachment.
Waht did you insert where? Im not sure in what content this texts should differ....

I mean i completed it; sorry.
The test is divided between personality test (PT), logical test (LT) and numerical test (NT), like that : PT - LT - PT - NT - PS - LT - PT
Logical and numerical test are quite hard because you don't have a lot of time...

Hi all,
I can see that this homepage is pretty popular and I guess far more people visit this site than would actually leave a comment or two. The test was online test was pretty interesting and not too hard. The problem and limiting factor was the time, which is probably intended. Do some free online IQ tests as preparation and watch the time.
Please do share your opinions and experiences here, as everyone can learn from them.

I just finished the test and I had 3 parts. Does anyone have an idea of how these are graded? Does 70% ean that you were better than 70% of test takers, or would this be your actual score. Going further, is anyone sure about the average score one needs to obtain fro the first ain parts in orer to pass? Scrolling back into last years comments, soeone speaks of an 50-60-70 average. The numbers are given in percentage. If you have e.g. 70 in one categorie it means you were better than 70% of the other participants.

It seems the test differ for the various streams. I had more than 3 parts but cancelled it while doing the 4th part. For me it was very tough and kind of ridiculous tests...

no one has passed the test so far. Results will be out, starting from tomorrow. the discussion on the 70% average, is based on previouse discussions (see discussions of 2012)
are you sure that 70% means that you are better than 70% of all test takers? where can i get that information from?

I got a 91, 88, 57 score within the first 3 sections. I have to admit the test shows quite well my personality (specially after reading the explanations carefully). I only was a bit surprise of getting only a 35% in costumer orientation.Overall, I don't know if it will be enough to reach the next phase. Good luck to everyone!

I applied for Manufacturing and got a 91,89,57 score within the technical related sections. I was a bit surprised of getting a 35% in customer mentality, but after reading carefully the explanations I have to admit that the test in general shows quite what I think about myself.
I wonder if it will be enough to reach to the next phase...

My feeling is it fits not too badly, except for the innovation which I definitely pursue actively :)
In addition there is comments for each score, giving some explanation for the behaviour (like can work within team but still comfortable to handle job on its own, etc.).

How did you prepare? I've never done such a test before and especially the math/logic bit and the diagrams were totally unknown to me and thus I ran out of time in both sections.
So maybe you were told WHAT to prepare for, then HOW did you manage to prepare for this?

In my case I'm surprised I got a percentile of 12 in Team Orientation, while I've always been pro team-working.
I think this results - the ones regarding the social/personal skills - may be lower than expected to some of us because instead of giving extreme answers we tried to keep it real, by answering using maybe 25-40% / 60-80% instead of 0-20% or 80-100%

When you do such tests more often, you will see you improve easily.
I have done a few of this tests already for other companies, and they are somehow similare (and if Kienbaum is the provider, you even realise you know some of the graphs :D). Actually in my opinion the EADS test was one of the easier once - but maybe just because I do not like verbal tests.
You can find some pages in the internet where you can prepare for such tests. A good one is for example SHL.

How do you understand the Propensity for conflict perectage? If you have a high score does that mean that you are more likely to egt into conflicts and if you have less percentage than not? I'm confused.

The way I see it, Customer Service Mentality and Propensity for Conflict are the two items where a higher score isn't necessarily better.
A high score in CSM would mean that you would bend over backwards to meet a customer's requirements at the expense of other duties and priorities. A higher score in PfC would mean that you would be willing to pick a fight with someone and cause problems within the team just to prove a point or to settle a personal conflict.
Just my opinion though. Don't know what you guys think.

I don't think that a high percentage is customer mentality is negativ at all. The description says:
Customer service mentality describes the importance accorded to the needs of customers and partners,
and to solving their individual problems. People with high scores on this scale are not just intent on exactly
understanding a customer?s concerns, but they also enjoy providing the service that best corresponds to
those concerns. To that end, they are also willing to let their personal needs take a backseat. This ability
also makes it easier for them to deal with difficult partners, and helps increase customer satisfaction.
People with low scores on this scale, on the other hand, tend not to put customers? concerns so obviously
first.
If you have 75 or high it says that:

Hello mates,
It seems that everyone who reached the telephone interview stage already can be quite happy.
I am rarely asking for advice; however this time I am kind of nervous as there is no information in which language this interview will be. Are there questions in German, French or another language (except English/native language?) Is anyone of you, who already did it, willing to share experience concerning this point ? I would be very grateful.
Maybe you had in the past a benefit of something I or someone else posted at this very helpful board, that?s why I hope I will receive some feedback on my question :). Thx!

Hey everyone, I got my rejection letter yesterday. My scores were (49) (61) and (69) for the first three. I'm pretty sure my scores were not good enough, however this was the first time I have taken such a test and found it to be very difficult, not to mention strange.
I'll start practicing lot more aptitude tests now, and I'll definitely be re-applying for Progress next year!
If anyone knows of some good sites to practice these sort of tests, or prepare for them in any way, please let us know!

P.S. to the person who posted above me, I would assume the interview would be in the language in which you applied for the program.

It will be in English, that's for sure. Or at least be prepared for it.
Kienbaum is a german company so maybe you'll have the chance to have somebody speaking German, but I highly doubt that you'll be able to do the interview in French, Italian or Spanish (unfortunately :) ).

UK universities seem to prepare their students better for this procedure than universities from other countries. Search at Google a little bit and you will find a lot of advices from the career pages of UK universities.

Concerning your answer about the language of the interview: Did not everyone have to apply in English? I think questions in other languages are possible - but are they very likely?

All communication (written, phone interview, assessment center) will be in English only. You definitely should prepare the phone interview, as there might be some "hard" questions (e.g. "Describe a situation where you found an innovative solution to a difficult problem") And always have an example at hand...

This goes to the guys from EADS/Kienbaum, who most certainly watch these dialogues as well...
Having seen other assessment centers/methods meanwhile, that consist of an online part as well, I must say that the PROGRESS System is shallow. It seems that you guys willingly accept to be tricked upon by people knowing the right answers in advance etc. and making an application to the program a matter of sheer luck.
In the end it is EADS that will suffer from candidates that ain't necessarily the best, but the best prepared.

I wondering - why you think so? With which method can you cheat at the online test of EADS which is not applicable for other online tests? I think already the psychological questions avoid that a friend is doing your test. So what else?
I guess the people of EADS/Kienbaum are aware that this possibilties exist and therefore they also consider your CV,...
Do you have practical improvement suggestions?
Actually preparing well isn't a bad attitude. However you should always keep in mind that an application also needs luck. Otherwise you can continue to complain about the people who get the job with connections and so on - life is not fair.

had phone interview today.
they said it takes up to one month for the results.
it's split into 3 parts, first general questions about eads - you should read about it, then about the aviation industry in general.
then problem solving questions for you when you have to give a lot of examples - such as hard situations you dealt with and how, what is your biggest achievement, what is your biggest innovation, what do you think are the biggest challenges for the future of eads/aviation/you.
the last part is the online assessment, when you have to give feedback and solution for three business cases, mostly team-management and project management oriented.
i cannot say more, but i can say good luck to you guys! its not easy, i suggest you be rested and think about your goals beforehand!

My interview was a bit different, the first part about the company was similar, what do you know about the company, some business numbers, who is the ceo...
The third was also the same, but the second part was different. i had rather the classical interview: "tell us something about you/your cv, why did you choose this university or that internship, what are your strengths, weaknesses, what would you like to achieve in 5/10 years...
I applied for the marketing track, maybe the interviews differ according to the track?

I guess it is different - as my interview was also different to your two descriptions. The focus was definitely on your described "second part".
I just had the typical question about why I want to work for EADS and nothing from the aviation industry or the industry sectors itself. Would not really say that was are "part" - more an introduction part to the main interview.
Therefore I had to answer to quite a lot of this question "Tell me a time..." - that is also why I hardly remember what it was, but nothing too tricky. I just was wondering that it was nothing direct about my weaknesses and challanges - guess that is what they asked between the lines and I did not got it ;-).
This situation part was in my opinion a bit strange, as I did not got it why we had to read it online instead of the interviewer telling us the situation. Nothing difficult and I wonder how they evaluate it.

Just give it a second thought - after doing a couple of online assessments, I can now think of a way that people want me to be for a certain position and will answer accordingly. I made 100/100 here in leading skills on purpose, when applying for strategy, was no big deal although my guess might have been wrong and I could have answered just one of the questions "wrongly". Others might have done a better guess or pick at guessing their outcome or had a better book to prepare with.
Now combine this with other people's comments from further up: "I knew half of the questions already"
Although the need for a system to sort out applicants is valid, this system has some downsides and EADS will get a pretty high portion of cheaters among their staff. But then again, as one sugggested earlier, cheating needs some skill, preparation and brain as well. Right?
It's either EADS wants this or to spend more money, e.g. in conducting more interviews.

What you are writing is nonesense. The parts that really mattered were the problem-solving capacity, the diagram analysis and the reasoning. Nobody could have known these questions before.
And if you are refering to the psychological questions: You could only have guessed what they might want to hear from you. So if you know customer service is really important for EADS (which is clearly stated on the webpage) you could have decided to answer accordingly. Anyway the psychological part was not really desicive for getting the phone interview as we have seen from all the different scores above. Which is not cheating by the way.
I think you are just offended because you failed and now try to pinpoint your failure on somebody else, the system, the test... etc. Just except that you didn't do well enough and move on. Nobodys fault but yours.

They just informed that the results of phone interview should be out "as from next week", then the profiles of the successful candidates will be submitted to hiring managers for review.
If selected, Assessment Centers from May 14th to June 11th (Munich or Toulouse).

They will decide if they want to invite you in the AC if they are interested in your application.

I passed too, but it doesn't mean that you are invited to the AC. They are going to try to see if your profil fits open positions and only then introduce your profil to the responsible manager. If the responsible manager thinks you are a good candidate you are invited to the AC. Usuall 3 people will be invited for 1 position.

I can't speak for this year, as I did not apply, but I applied last year and made it to the phone interview stage. This is the information I can provide from this year's cohort:
-over 9600 applicants
-roughly 360 phone interviews
-roughly 250 get to selection day
-maximum 115 get a spot (it was about 98 in the end, based on a guy I know who got in)
I decided not to apply this year, as it was the age that hurt my application last year (I was 20, finishing up my Mechanical Engineering Bachelors, applied for engineering development).
As a result, I decided to tack on a Masters in Management and 2 more internships and will be reapplying next year for either the Strategy or Engineering Development stream, haven't decided yet.
I'll be older then and had more internship experience, which will hopefully help my candidacy.
